Coconut oil is an amazing source of healthy fatty acids.  Most of the fatty acids that you can find in coconut oil are medium-chain, which means that they are metabolized differently from long-chain fatty acids found in lots of other foods.  The fatty acids found within coconuts are digested, sent to the liver and then quickly used as an energy source.  Coconut oil is really easy for the body to digest, and it produces a longer lasting energy boost.  At the same time, the body’s metabolism is boosted, helping you better digest your food and make the most of all the goodness found within it.  Amazingly, these fatty acids do more than give you energy – studies suggest that they also help reduce your chance of developing Alzheimer’s disease.  Coconut oil also contains an extremely high level of lauric acid, a superior disease fighting fatty acid.

Coconut oil contains healthy cholesterol known as HDL, and the more you have, the healthier your heart – and indeed, the more LDL ‘bad’ cholesterol is converted into HDL. It’s a win-win.

Studies have also shown that coconut oil works wonders for the liver, which not only helps protect you from infections, but also ensures that your liver is able to continue flushing out toxins from your body. This can go a long way in helping improve your natural immune system, which in turn helps protect you from infections all over the body.

Coconut oil also kills the bad bacteria which battles with good bacteria.  This helps maintain a good balance of stomach acid, reducing the chances of experiencing inflammation, and ensuring that your digestive processes keep working properly.
