Some of the more popular types of protein supplement and their source:

Soy Protein – As the name suggests , this protein comes from the soy bean. It first became popular to use in supplement form in 1959. People ingest this form of soy protein by adding power to foods they are eating or by drinking soy protein drinks.

Hemp Protein – Another plant-based protein source, hemp is used by many people to get that extra boost of protein. It is considered one of the better vegan-quality proteins. It has a nutty taste and can be added to most foods.

Rice Protein – This protein is considered to be a good alternative to soy and whey. Rice protein is high in amino acids cysteine and methionine, but low in lysine.
