Its the most exciting time of year for OBX’ers. The water is warm, the sun is hot and we have plenty of things to do.

Besides the usual tanning and surfing on the beach, the Outer Banks comes alive with festivals and get-togethers. Now that the dreaded pandemic is winding down and the restrictions have been lifted, people are looking to have some fun.

We created this short list of some of the fun events happening around us this month:

  1. Saturday, May 22nd 4:00 PM – Ocracoke Volunteer Fireman’s Ball – Attendees get BBQ and dancing. There is an auction to raise money and the event is family friendly.
  2. Wednesday, May 26th 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM – Lighthouse 5K presented by the OBX Running Company. Start/Finish in front of the Historic Mansion at The Whalehead Club right here in Corolla. 7am – 10am
  3. Friday, May 28th 7:45 PM – 10:00 PM– Opening Night of The Lost Colony. The outdoor drama tells the tale of the missing colony. You can see this event at the famed Waterside Theater in the heart of Downtown Manteo.
  4. Monday, May 31st 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM – Love exercise? Get another 5K under your belt with the 8th Annual Shore Break Fun Run.

If you get thirsty or hungry this summer, don’t forget your friends at Island Smoothie Cafe in Corolla. We have the cold smoothies that will cool you down. And if you have worked up an appetite you can get a delicious fruit bowl.

Stay tuned to the website as we will publish an events calendar for June and July, when things really begin to heat up.
