Winter Time in the OBX

It’s winter time here in Corolla, NC. With average highs in the 40’s, it’s easy for people who are not from here to think that there is nothing to do in the winter time. I am here to tell you otherwise.

The beach area can still be fun though it is chilly out. Beachcombing during the day when the sun is out is a pleasurable experience any time of year. And stargazing at night is very enjoyable.

A fun and educational experience that visitors to OBX like to do is visit ship wreck museums. Because of the geography of the outer banks, there are many shipwrecks here. All types of items have washed up on shore and have been recovered by divers. Check out the shipwreck museums website

One really neat benefit from visiting the outer banks in winter is that the hotels are inexpensive. Hotel companies charge much less during their “off-season” to attract people to come and stay there. You get the same great service, but at a lower price.

Some events that are coming up are:

Hatteras Island Oyster Roast – February 2, 2019. More info call 252-473-1607

Beer Yoga – Jan 20 and 27, 2019. Follow Vanessa on Twitter

Frank Stick Memorial Art Show – January 26, 2019. More Info
